Meet Dougie and Friends

During COVID-19 quarantine I’ve been trying to practice more digital illustration, and as a result I wanted to try doing some comic illustration and character design. The Adventures of Dougie Sprout is a comic that I’ve been working on about a little boy named Douglass Sprout and his two friends, Luna Majors and Archer Maxwell. The three of them love to get together and play in the woods behind Dougie’s house, where they can let their imaginations run wild. As part of their games, they have created fantastical personas for themselves, and since this comic primarily presents their adventures as they imagine it, that is how they are depicted: Luna as a crafty wizard, Archer as daring rogue, and Dougie as a humanoid pumpkin. Other recurring characters include Max, Archer’s shadow that he has personified into his imaginary friend, and Benjamin Franklin, a stray cat with a skittish personality who loves to follow Dougie around—just so long as no-one acknowledges he’s there.
