Laurelbrook Academy

This is a project that I did to redesign the branding for Laurelbrook Academy.

Laurelbrook Academy, founded in 1950, is a self-supporting Seventh-day Adventist boarding school, located in the mountains of Dayton, TN. As a service project, they tasked my class with creating a whole new brand for the school.

Here I have chosen to briefly show you one of my concepts that they liked, but did not end up choosing as their favorite. The hand holding the torch represents sharing the light of the word of God with others, whether that be students or their community. The leaf elements on the side are a reference to “laurels” as well as the beautifully luscious campus that Laurelbrook has.

The second concept (with the cross in the shield and the landscape) is the one the client chose as their favorite. The cross and shield are classic Christian iconography, and the landscape is a reference to the school’s campus setting. The fonts were chosen to look refined but not out-of-style, and the colors all reference nature in some way since the campus and its beautiful scenery is a big selling point for the school.
