Tawney Publications

This is a branding project that I did for a conceptual publishing company called Tawney Publications.

The concept behind Tawney Publications is that it was founded by William and Samantha Tawney, who have always shared a deep love for literature. A “tawny” is a type of owl, and (in addition to the allure of a clever pun) the Tawney’s felt like an owl would be the perfect visual signature to represent their publishing company.

The Tawney logo was made to look refined and modern, while also having a hint of antiquity, paying homage to the vast and rich history of literature itself.

The fonts were chosen because of their aethetic quality and simplicity. The neutrals in the color palette maintain a sense of order and polish, while the earth-tone colors add an accent and a sense of lightheartedness and pleasure.
The full scheme is fairly toned down/not overly bright or saturated, in order to seem antique and to create a calm aesthetic.
